The book also includes essays on Cooper’s theatre photography by Christopher Newton, Artistic Director Emeritus of the Shaw Festival, where David has been company photographer for forty consecutive seasons; on his dance images by Max Wyman; and insights into Cooper’s marketing images by his longtime art director and collaborator Scott McKowen. DAVID COOPER, C.M., lives in Vancouver but has spent much of the past forty years lugging his camera gear to the Shaw and Stratford Festivals in Ontario, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Oregon Shakespeare Festival and performing arts companies large and small in between. Cooper received a Jessie Richardson Theatre Award for his outstanding contribution to the Vancouver arts community and was elected a pioneer member of the British Columbia Entertainment Hall of Fame. In 2020 he was appointed to the Order of Canada.
